French cottage - Aix En Issart. The farmhouse lies in the pretty village of Aix-en – Issart approximately 10 minutes by car from the historic walled town of Montreuil sur Mer and 20 minutes from the chic costal resort of Le Touquet. It is about 45 minutes from the channel tunnel exit by autoroute A16, 30 minutes from Boulogne and 60 minutes from Calais and the ferry port. The house is at the end of a pleasant country lane. There are approximately 200 residents in the village. The village has a “green” where many events are held during the year. There is a church, primary school, “mairie “ and boulangerie ( 3minutes walk from the house). There is a café in the next village (5 minutes by car) . The nearest supermarket is 10 minutes by car.

There are several other small villages within a short car ride or easy cycling distance. The countryside is rolling with plenty of opportunity for pleasant walks or cycling. There are numerous activities (fishing, horse-riding and canoeing), attractions (Parc Bagatelle, World War 1 sites, Nausicaa, Cite Europe), historic towns (Amiens, Arras, Abbeville, Hesdin, St Omer), lovely white sandy beaches and fine restaurants all within easy reach. The house is L-shaped and divided into 2 self contained units – the main house which sleeps 6-8 and the annexe which sleeps 2-4. They can be hired separately or together (in which case there is an interconnecting door which can be opened). There is also a large barn where the boiler and tumble dryer are housed and also a table tennis table, darts and some (rather old) bikes which you are welcome to use. To the front of the house is a gravel courtyard with parking for up to 3 cars and a patio/barbecue area for the annexe. To the rear is a large garden with a patio/barbecue area, washing line, lawn , shrubs and fruit bushes. There is a large field behind the garden which we also own and children are welcome to play in at their own risk (cows may be grazing!).

The main house consists of 2 twin and 2 double bedrooms, 1 bathroom (bath with hand shower, WC, hand basin) and 1 shower room (WC, shower and hand basin), lounge with a double sofa bed and a large farmhouse kitchen with French doors opening onto the patio. The kitchen is fully equipped with fridge-freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, kettle, toaster, coffee maker and electric cooker with gas hob. The table is large and seats 8. In the lounge is a wood burning stove, satellite TV and CD player. The annexe has a separate entrance but can be joined to the main house by a connecting door (normally locked). There is one double bedroom, a separate bathroom (shower cubicle, WC and hand basin), kitchen and lounge with a double sofa bed. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, microwave, electric cooker, washing machine, fridge, toaster and kettle. The lounge contains a sofa bed, 2 armchairs, coffee table, small dining table with 4 chairs and video/DVD player + small CD player. (Please note as we are in a valley there is no TV reception and this monitor is not connected to the satellite).

Hot water, heating, electricity and linen are included in the rental price.
Weekends and short breaks also available by arrangement

A deposit of £100 for the main house and £50 for the annexe sent to the address below together with the booking form will secure your booking. The balance is due 8 weeks before departure together with a security deposit of £100 (please send as a separate cheque which will not be cashed unless damage occurs). Detailed directions will be sent to you when the final balance is received.
